Dunvegan Castle

Isle of Skye, Scotland

Occupying the summit of a rock 50 feet above sea level, Dunvegan Castle is mostly likely built upon the site of a Norse dun (fort). The castle was first built in the 13th century and developed piecemeal over the centuries and evolving into the structure we see today. The castle is the seat of the MacLeod of MacLeod, chief of the Clan MacLeod.
