Professor William Hanson is arguably one of the foremost experts on Roman archeology in Britain. Hanson taught archaeology at the University of Glasgow for 40 years and was made Professor of Roman Archaeology there in 2000. The focus of his research is on Roman frontiers, and he is one of the foremost experts on Roman sites in Britain, most especially Hadrian’s Wall and the Antonine Wall.
