Our days begin with a relaxed morning briefing from Professor Shutt in the garden terrace of our hotel.  During these lectures, Professor Shutt helps illuminate the connections between the monuments we visit, the texts we explore, and their lasting significance.  Late mornings and afternoons are spent visiting historic sites (many with private guides) that have survived the past two thousand years plus and continue to inspire.

Plenty of free time is scheduled so participants can pursue their own interests. Over the course of the week you’ll have several afternoons and evenings free. This will give you time to enjoy your own sightseeing and excursions.  Modern Athens offers world-class shopping and dining and the Greek countryside we visit offers opportunities for hiking and swimming.  Our staff is always on had to recommend dining and entertainment venues to suit individual tastes and preferences.

Seminar Evenings
Discussion and debate are the hallmarks of any learning experience.  That’s why two evenings during the week are reserved for special seminars designed to encourage group participation and discovery.  We’ll enjoy typical Greek meze and wine as Professor Shutt leads us in a discussion of topics we’ve covered during our visits and morning lectures.  The locations for these seminar evenings are stories in themselves – rustic and historic tavernas off the beaten path.  All participants have the opportunity to contribute their thoughts and impressions and get feedback from other tour members.
